The aim was to maintain the breeding work of fodder galega variety Gale and white melilot variety Kuusiku 1 and guarantee the persistence of qualities and characteristics described in variety specifications. The positive selection was carried out in the selection garden. The more perspective breeding material was multiplied. The pre-basic seed production of fodder galega was 20 kg and basic seed 253 kg accordingly. 1180 kg of certified seed of fodder galega was produced in Estonia. The contracts for fodder galega seed production under license were concluded with 3 producers. 100 kg of fodder galega seed was certified from organic production. 500 kg of certified seed was exported to Finland, 2000 kg to Japan, 200 kg to Czech Republic, and experiments to France and Sweeden. The pre-basic seed production of white melilot was 15 kg and basic seed 140 kg and 1170 kg of C-category seed was produced. After the analysis of the most perspective fodder galega population for biological hay harvested in springtime became evident, that the content of neutral fiber (NDF) was 75,67% and the content of hemicellulose 13,65%, lignine 14,7 % and ash 7,93%. Fodder galega harvested after flowering in July contained neutral fiber 68,92% and hemicellulose 18,97% which is an evidence that fodder galega has a potential for growing as biological hay.
