In general, the goal of the project is development of novel coating and functionalising materials usable in the metal industry for giving new and useful properties to its future products. The project is based, firstly, on the knowledge and experience existing at the University of Tartu in high-level technology of thin oxide films, thin-film coatings, novel carbon nanomaterials and treatment of metal surfaces including their functionalising. Secondly, it is based on the knowledge available at the industrial partner, Micro Fix OÜ, on its real production needs and practise of incorporation of the new methods into existing technologies. Together will be developed new methods for surface treatments of samples of certain metal/alloys and certain coatings in order to obtain samples with necessary properties, e.g. certain colour, wear or corrosion resistance, non-sticking, etc., and keep or better the biocompatibility.
