This project addresses on the technology of synthesis, characterization and application of carbon based nanomaterials including micromesoporous amorphous carbons prepared from different carbon sources such as binary or ternary metallic and non-metallic carbides, natural and artificial graphite, organic polymers, organic aerogels and natural biomaterials (sugars, cellulose etc.). Technology for physical, chemical and electrochemical surface functionalization will be developed and used to prepare composite and/or micromesoporous carbon supported materials for heterogeneous catalysis and electrocatalysis, electronic and micro(nano)mechanical applications. Complex metal hydride/carbon nanostructural composites will be developed for hydrogen adsorption/absorption devices.
